But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.

In a presidential election, the country gets to vote for who they want as president—f or who they think the best person is to guide the country. At school, you might get to vote for student council members. You’re supposed to vote for who you think will best represent your class. A team might get to vote for team captain, someone the team members think will lead the team with great attitude and work ethic. The people elected, those who win the vote, are chosen.

So are you. But you are chosen by someone far more important than your classmates or teammates or even more than the population of the United States. You are chosen by God. God votes for you. God picks you. Every single day, he fills out his ballot and says, “You, you’re the one I want to love. You’re the one I think is special. You’re the one I want to help. You’re the one I want to spend time with today.”

You are chosen by God. Let that sink in today.
